State Covid-19 School Closure Notification
To All Students:
Effective Thursday, August 27, 2020, the School Campus will be temporarily closing due to another “Stay at Home” Order for the City & County of Honolulu by Mayor Caldwell which will be enacted as of August 27, 2020 at 12:01am because of an increase in cases of Covid-19 in the State of Hawaii. This is the second state mandated school closure related to the Covid-19 pandemic. The school will remain open
for the full day on Wednesday, August 26, 2020.
This necessary closure will delay students’ graduation dates, and may affect financial aid for some students. There will be no penalties assessed by the School for any effects of the closure. The school will offer distance learning. Students must attend a minimum of 22 hours per week during this period for those who are able to participate in distance learning. Otherwise, absences will be assessed based on the 22 required hours. Per government requirements, a Leave of Absence must be requested if a student does not participate in distance learning so they do not accrue absent hours. This can be made by telephone, or email may be accepted initially if necessary, but a LOA form will need to be signed at a later date. Please stand by for another notification on the distance education plan until it is up and running.
This School closure is planned to be for 14 days, and could be longer depending on whether the government order is decreased or extended in days.
Students should anticipate returning to School and resume attendance upon re-opening, which may be as early as September 10, 2020. Office staff will contact all students via email, phone call or text message with the contact information the student provided.
